Land for Jobs Program

The Dexter Chamber of Commerce has available approximately thirty-five (35) acres in their industrial park. The Chamber has developed a program to reward purchasers of property in the industrial park with a reward for jobs created for acreage purchased.

The price set for the property is $10,000 per acre. A reward will be given to a purchaser of property based on $500 per job for all jobs over ten (10) created per acre purchased with a maximum reward not to exceed $5,000 per acre after an investment time in the community of two years.

20 Jobs Per Acre Purchased
10 Jobs Per Acre Over Base

Electricity:
Dexter's electrical power is furnished by AmerenUE. The power grid is interconnected with 22 other power suppliers in the Midwest. Native system generating capacity is 8,100 megawatts with peak load at 7,200 megawatts. Power purchase contracts are in place. Dexter area voltage is 161 Kv to 34.5 Kv to 12.5 Kv. Rates are stable with no increases since 1987 and none planned through the 1990's exclusive of possible acid rain requirements. Rates are available with schedules for small commercial, large commercial, primary supply, interruptible contracts, and an economic development rider for first five (5) years of operation for qualifiers. For more information, contact AmerenUE.

Natural Gas:
Natural gas is provided locally by the AmerenUE from the Texas Eastern Pipeline near Dexter. Gas is delivered at 250 lbs. to city gates with 50 to 15 lb distribution. Rates are stable with no increases since 1/1/91, and none planned. However, the Purchase Gas Adjustment does fluctuate considerably from season to season. Rates are available with schedules for Small Commercial, usually under 50,000 ccf per year, Large General Service, usually over 75,000 ccf per year, Interruptible Service, usually over 50,000 ccf per year, and a transportation service rate. All rate sheets are on file at the AmerenUE offices. Company representatives are available to meet with gas or electric customers and prospects at any time.

Water:
Dexter Municipal is the local water supplier. The City maintains a two (2) million gallon storage capacity as well as the capacity to pump two thousand, two hundred (2200) gallons per minute. It presently operates two (2) water treatment plants. The Water Department continues to meet or exceed Department of Natural Resources requirements. Improvements to the City's system continue to be updated. City water personnel periodically take training classes which are not required, but optional. All city residents have access to the City's water system. A new, 1200 gallon per minute system was placed on line in 1981. A ten (10) inch water main was installed around the east side of the City to improve fire department water access to this part of Dexter.

Sewage:
Dexter Municipal is the local sewage treatment operator. The sewage treatment system consists of two (2) stabilization lagoons.
